Nashville Zoo Trip!
I was so excited yesterday to be able to take Charlotte to her first Zoo visit! She is a little young to be able to see all the animals but there were so many that she loved to see and it was a beautiful day to be outside! We had the first real, perfect spring day with sunshine and a slight breeze with temps in the low 70’s. We met our friends Caroline and her girls Grace and Annabelle up there... read more

Ichthus Festival 2010!!!
Sunday evening at our small group, we got to talking about one of the most fun memories that Jeff and I had while we were dating – Ichthus Festival! If you’ve never heard of Ichthus here is a brief description: It’s a 40 year old Christian music festival, located in Wilmore KY on a 111 acre farm. Camping is included in the price and makes it all the more fun (port-a-potties all the... read more

Fab 5 Friday!
1. Parenthood. This new show on NBC just premiered last week. It is a loose spin off from the movie of the same name with Steve Martin in the 80’s. It stars Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girl fame among other strong cast members. Here is a recap from hulu (where the first episode can be viewed for free!) “Parenthood is a drama about four adult siblings inspired by the box-office hit of the... read more

Fab 5 Friday!
Fab 5 Friday post is here meaning that it is FRIDAY! The week has had it’s ups and downs for sure, but for the most part it has flown by and I cannot believe the weekend is already here for us to relax in. Heading into the weekend I will enjoy: 1. A well organized (and full!) pantry: Between having so much work craziness and FPU budgeting, we have had limited means with which to buy groceries,... read more

Cracking that Window
Window update! Today was an interesting day – I had an interview for each option! This morning I met with a mom of a 15 month old little boy who need part time child care. I feel like the play time went well with us and the 2 little ones, I don’t think there were any surprises on her part as far as policies or contract stuff goes, and the little boy was sweet and very well behaved. I... read more

Fab 5 Fridays!
I’m taking a page from some of my favorite blogger women and starting a “Fab 5 Friday” post on none other than… Fridays! In this post I will list 5 things that I have loved this week (and they cannot be a friend or family member!) So… in no particular order! 1. Gilmore Girls. I am watching the last few episodes of the series right now and although I have done this on... read more

Opening a window?
How do you know when God is opening the proverbial window after a door closes? A lot of my stress, thoughts, and prayers have centered around what God has in his plans for our family. With Jeff now pursuing full time freelance work, should he stick with building his business or keep looking for full time work if it presents itself? With my child-care babies all leaving suddenly, what does this mean... read more

Blogs, Faith, and Diets oh my!
Here’s a few random things that I have thought through today: First: I have added a couple new blogs to the blogroll: Four Girls and One God, and to be a better me. Four Girls is a blog by Emily Cassetty who I knew from my old church in Bowling Green. Emily and her husband Matt have an amazing story of life and love and faith in God. They have 4 daughters, one of whom is in Heaven with our... read more

Hannah’s Festival Concert
I had the privilege last night of traveling to Cookeville, TN to Tennessee Tech University with my dad to attend my sister Hannah’s Symphony Band concert. It was Festival week for TTU’s band, they have all worked hard welcoming high school students to their campus and working with guest conductor’s to perform pieces in their concert. Hannah has worked herself super hard this week... read more

Charlotte’s First Haircut!
1 year and 2 weeks old brought Charlotte’s First Haircut! Her hair has gotten very thick and very long, lately it has just become unruly as you can see, so a haircut was needed! After lots of research (yes, research. It may seem silly but if someone is coming at my daughters head with a sharp, pointy object they will be used to cutting wiggly toddler’s hair and keeping them entertained!... read more

Baking: FAIL
Well I am no Julia Child. I am not even a Sarah Edmundson (hello friend!). Jeff has not had the best day, and my day hasn’t been fantastic, so I decided to bake us some cookies! We have found that our favorite is the dry mix that you just have to add an egg and butter too – not quite slice and bake but not quite scratch either! So into the bowl the ingrediants go and 7 minutes later,... read more

Snowed in AND sick… ugh!
So I know that as I have been sick and snowed in the last 5 days I should have had plenty of time to post plenty of entries – but sadly I was not interesting enough nor was I thinking clearly enough to write. Here is a catch-up of the last week here at House of Lyons: This past weekend Tennessee had one of the biggest snows we had seen in 7 years! We had anywhere from 3-5 inches across the... read more
